Animal ornaments on house ridges - Abstract
The main materials of the Wind Lion God (风狮爷) consist of copper, stone, ceramic, azure stone and so on. This paper takes the ceramic Wind Lion God as the main research object, starts with its materials technology, analyzes its functionality and modeling language, then compares the Roof Wind Lion God statues in southern Fujian, Kinmen, and Okinawa, and summarizes the relevance of cultural heritage of the three places. From the perspective of regional humanism, this paper also analyzes the reasons for the formation of similarities and differences, understands the similarities and differences of folk statue factors and modeling aesthetics in different regions, and conducts specific research on the cultural functions brought about by the use of ceramic materials that add to the art form of the Wind Lion God.
