Athena International Publishing added another journal to its journals portfolio today with the acquisition of “Growth and Form”. This journal is devoted to the geometric analysis of growth and form, static and dynamic, as visible in such areas as biology, chemistry and physics. Growth and Form was acquired from its founding Editor Johan Gielis who will continue to act as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.
Growth and Form is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal that publishes articles from various fields which expose the variability or correspondence in natural shapes and phenomena, and/or describe mathematical and geometrical strategies to understand natural shapes, their variability and their development. We are surrounded by form and phenomena. The smallest organisms and the biggest galaxies manifest themselves through their respective forms, along with all kinetic and dynamic aspects of their development and evolution. Indeed forms are not static, but they change and metamorphose continuously. This journal is devoted to the geometric analysis of growth and form, static and dynamic, as visible in such areas as biology, chemistry and physics. It welcomes papers of 5-10 pages in length, giving fresh insights into the origin and development of form, which are relevant for their respective fields and which are broad enough to inspire a wide range of scientists. Both theoretical papers and papers of a practical or educational nature will be considered.
Growth and Form was launched in 2019 and has published two volumes in 2020 and 2021 with its previous publisher Atlantis Press (now acquired by Springer Nature). The journal will transfer to Athena International Publishing from 2022 with a revised editorial strategy aimed at attracting more submissions, expanding the Editorial Board and preparing for indexation in key databases. Growth and Form was acquired by Athena from its Founding Editor Johan Gielis (University of Antwerp, Antwerp, Belgium) who will continue in the role of Editor-in-Chief after the transfer. Around the same time when the journal is re-launched, Johan Gielis will also publish a book with Athena entitled From Pythagoras to Fourier and From Geometry to Nature about the geometric analysis of natural shapes and phenomena using Gielis transformations. His co-author for that publication, Paolo Emilio Ricci, also serves on the Editorial Board of Growth and Form. The journal is expected to be open for new submissions at the end of January 2022.
Athena International Publishing is an open access publisher of scientific, technical and medical (STM) information which was founded at the end of 2021 to further support the efficient dissemination of “sound science” and the advancement and exchange of scientific knowledge. The company headquarters is based in Amsterdam in The Netherlands and our team consists of a group of publishing professionals with more than 150 years of combined experience across all major STM publishers and service providers in the industry. The Athena publishing portfolio consists of journals, book series, conference proceedings and books covering all STM disciplines including Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Biology and Life Sciences, Health and Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences and Humanities.
